This event is suitable for all ages and abilities with a challenging course - previously known as the Corsair Bay Classic. The plan is alternate years between Wainui and Corsair Bay.
The Canterbury Classic in 2024 consists of the following different events:
- Olympic tri - 1500m swim, 38km bike ride and 9.5km run.
- Olympic duathlon - 3.4km run, 38km bike ride and 9.5km run.
- Short course tri - 300m swim, 13km bike ride and 3.4km run.
- Short course duathlon: 1.7km run, 13km bike ride and 3.4km run.
- Kids' Aquathon (5 to 12 years): 100m swim or wade and 1.7km run.
Aquabike options are also available.
Date: Sunday 1st February 2026.
Start Time: 7.30am for Olympic tri, 7.35am for the Olympic duathlon, 7.55am for short course events and 8am for the junior and kids' aquathons. A race briefing will be held 15 minutes before each event.
Start Location: Corsair Bay.
Cost: $89 per person for Olympic events, $69 for short course events and $25 for kids' aquathlon. Team entries are an additional $10. A discount is available for Canterbury Triathlon Club members. A $10 late fee will apply to all entries received later than 18th January 2026.
