The 4 Paws Marathon is an off-road walking/running event set in Bottle Lake Forest and the beaches of Christchurch - now in its 5th year! It is a celebration of "exercise is medicine" as well as a salute to our best friend and loyal exercise ally - the humble dog.
This completely off-road event is the ultimate expression of freedom that is sure to invigorate and refresh your senses - being soft underfoot and with spectacular scenery to boot.
4 Paws is designed to cater for all levels of fitness, with a choice of 5km, 10km, 16km, half marathon (21.1km), mini-marathon (32.2km) and marathon (42.2km) distances. There is also a 2.5km Rascal’s Run for children aged 5 to 9 years - children must be accompanied by an adult.
Date: Sunday 4th October 2026.
Start Time: 6am for walkers in the full marathon and mini-marathon, 7.30am for runners in the full marathon and mini-marathon, 9am for the half marathon and 16km events, 9.30am for the 10km event, 9.50am for the 5km event and noon for the Rascal's Run. Briefings will be held 10 minutes before each event starts.
Start Location: Bottle Lake Forest (Waitikiri Drive, Parklands).
Cost: A late fee will apply to entries received after 23rd August 2026.
- 5km: $45 per person (10 years +);
- 10km: $60 per person (12 years +);
- 16km: $70 per person (16 years +);
- Half marathon: $85 per person (16 years +);
- Mini-marathon: $95 per person (18 years +);
- Full marathon: $120 per person (18 years +); and
- $25 per child for the Rascal's Run.
