Daniel Reese Memorial Relay
Join New Zealand's original distance relay medley cross-country event for walkers and runners - honouring the late Daniel Reese.
Four distances are available to suit all levels:
- 2km - for individuals 16 years and under;
- 4km - for individuals 17 years + or a team of walkers;
- 6km - for 16 years and under teams (2km + 1km + 2km + 1km); and
- 10km - for teams 17 years + (3km + 2km + 1km + 4km).
Date: Saturday 25th April 2026.
Start Time: From 1pm.
Start Location: North Hagley Park - near the Armagh Street Bridge.
Cost: From $7 for solo participants, and from $28 for a team. Non-club participants will pay an additional $3 fee per person.

This event was formerly known as the Hagley Memorial Baton Relay - a memorial race to honour University of Canterbury Athletic Club members who lost their lives in World War II.
