Well Elders: A Masterclass in promoting wellbeing in older people

Aotearoa-New Zealand’s population is ageing rapidly. There are more and more people living into old age. The World Health Organisation has identified that as the baby boomer generation ages, many will enjoy reasonable physical health, however mental health issues, in particular depression and anxiety, will be a prevalent health issue. Therefore promoting mental wellbeing must be a major focus for those working with older people.

A older person's sense of wellbeing is determined by proven social, economic and cultural factors that can either positively or negatively impact them. The emphasis of this workshop from TaylorMade is on ageing well and having thriving elders.

Hear from experienced wellbeing specialist Barry Taylor who has lectured and implemented numerous wellbeing programmes at the local, national and international levels.

Date: Tuesday 31st March 2026.
Time: 9am to 4pm.
Location: Enterprise Precinct and Innovation Campus (EPIC) Christchurch (100 Manchester Street, Central City,).
Cost: $195 plus GST per person. An early bird discount is available until 2nd March 2026. A group discount (for 3 or more participants) is also available.

The training does not offer a ready-made older peoples' wellbeing package but rather helps participants to:

  • understand the underlying theory, principles and best practice in promoting mental wellbeing.
  • identify the enablers and disablers of wellbeing in older people.
  • move from an outputs to outcomes focus in designing wellbeing programmes or activities.
