Autumn Active Canterbury Hui
You are invited to the first hui for 2025 covering a variety of relevant topics. Save the date!
Date: Friday 9th May 2025.
Time: Noon to 3pm.
Location: Multicultural Centre (455 Hagley Avenue, Central City).
Cost: FREE but registration is essential.
This hui is an opportunity to engage, connect, learn and network with fellow activity advocates and providers in this great city of ours.
Come along to hear about:
- Come on down Rob Bone: Rob works as Training Advisor for group fitness across six council facilities (soon to be seven with the opening of Parakiore). He is one of the most experienced group fitness instructors in Christchurch and has a wealth of knowledge to share. Expect a little fun movement too!
- The Neurogym: Tim Webster specialises in working with the 'neurologicals'. These are people who have experienced strokes and other brain injuries or who have Parkinson's or MS and for whom exercise will manage their condition and improve their quality of life. He will share his experience of the modalities that most benefit this group and the things he has learned from working with them.
- Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing 101: This will be a short but practical session covering the basics of stages of change and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Fabulous Feet: Good foot health is essential for optimal alignment of hips and knees which affects function and movement. But are your foot skills up to scratch? Hazel Boot is a hugely experienced accredited exercise physiologist and movement specialist who will explain the importance of our feet and give practical take home strategies.
- Pae Ora Programme: Rachel Clarke from Purapura Whetu will give an overview on how this programme works.
- The Halberg Trust: Learn about about their work from Canterbury advisor Rebecca Gillett.
