The Heart Foundation assists with the development and support of cardiac rehabilitation through community-based cardiac clubs. These clubs are for patients that have had a heart attack, cardiac event or procedure. It is a chance for survivors, their partners and their family/whanau to meet and participate in physical activity and talk to others with similar experiences.

A range of providers and programmes are available throughout New Zealand. While the groups vary in format and frequency of meetings, the majority hold physical activity sessions, invite guest speakers to talk on the latest information about heart disease or other topics, and all try to promote a warm social atmosphere.
