Cardiac Clubs
The Heart Foundation assists with the development and support of cardiac rehabilitation through community-based cardiac clubs.
For patients that have had a heart attack, cardiac event or procedure, cardiac clubs give them, their partners and their family/whanau the chance to meet and participate in physical activity and talk to people who have been through similar experiences
A range of providers and programmes are available throughout New Zealand with a number supported by the Heart Foundation. While the groups vary in format and frequency of meetings, the majority hold physical activity sessions, invite guest speakers to talk on the latest information about heart disease (or related issues) as well as general topics, and all try to promote a warm social atmosphere.
